There’s A Difference Between Gamble And Calculated Risk

Taking risk is important in life. But, at the same time it’s very important to calculate the risk, before plunging into unknown territory recklessly. Edmund H. North has aptly put it in his quote. He states that “I think there’s a difference between gamble and calculated risk”. As a beginner it is very easy to be elated at profits and panic at losses. What you need to learn from experience is to make the most the profits and to tackle and reduce the losses effectively.

The most important aspect is to invest the right amount in the first place. No one should invest more money than they can afford to lose. Added to that there is no point in investing huge amount into something wherein the profits are little. For example it would be meaning less to invest £100 if the gains are going to be £10.Before investing your money you need to make a rational, well-thought of and studied plan. By doing that you would have better control over your finance.

Remember, “A chance is what you take before you think about it. A calculated risk is what you take after you have evaluated all possible factors and have determined that risk.”-Craig Elliot

You Will Never Know If You Don’t Keep Trying, The Next Time Might Be Your Time To Success

It is said, “There are no short-cuts to success.” And in the case of Entrepreneurship it is absolutely true. So what is that one virtue that makes an entrepreneur successful? It is persistence. As it is aptly said by Steve Jobs “I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.

Taking a decision to become an entrepreneur is hard but sticking by that decision with no immediate success is hardest. Many times as an entrepreneur you have to work for years together with no success at all and face extreme challenges and social pressure. These challenges would dampen your spirits and force you to quit. The only thing that can help you sail through in the time of adversities is your persistence. To overcome the hurdles and to bring your entrepreneurial dream into reality you have to keep trying and not get bogged down by failure. Here is a beautiful analogy of a river, “A river cuts through a rock not because of its power but its persistence.” So do not give up, hold on to that ‘can-do it’ attitude and keep learning from your failures.

Because, “You will never know if you don’t keep trying, the next time might be your time to success.”

Create A Vision Of Who You Want To Be, And Then Live Into That Picture As If It Were Already True

In life or work, every new venture starts with a goal in mind; a goal which we aim for and desire to achieve. The goal could be anything ranging from quitting a habit to establishing a business empire. A goal provides us the motivation and inner drive to achieve what we are aiming for. With the goal in mind people put in all their effort and planning skills in use. But one thing that we fail to utilise to the fullest is our power of visualization.

Every great venture starts with new energy and excitement. Many times people chalk out the plans, work out the ways in the mind but forget to put it out on paper. This makes the mind crowded with ideas but there is nothing factual in reality. This leads to unnecessary stress and mental block. Moreover, in spite all the planning people are unable to move beyond that stage due to fear of the unknown, negative thoughts or social pressure. The only way to overcome this challenge is by pouring out your ideas on paper and through power of visualisation. By jotting down your ideas and plans you can free your mind from stress and create space for more innovative ideas.  Additionally, visualisation lets you live your goal even before achieving it. It’s like dreaming with your eyes open. The ability to see the impossible outcome makes you believe in that possibility. Great athletes and performers like boxing legend Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan have tapped their power of visualisation to enhance their performance and achieve the best. Remember, visualisation would never be an alternative for hard work and perseverance but it definitely increases concentration and aids in overcoming fears and anxieties.

So, “Create a vision of who you want to be, and then live into that picture as if it were already true “-Arnold Schwarzenegger

You’ve Got To Win Your Mind Before You Win In Your Life

It’s said, “If your dreams don’t scare you they are not big enough”. Taking a plunge from a regular job to entrepreneurship is a huge feat. It’s choosing uncertainty against stability and it’s definitely a dream that is quite scary enough. But what is it that makes taking this decision so difficult? It’s an on-going battle within your mind. It is the hardest battle you need to fight against yourself.

Decision making has always been the most difficult thing to do. When you desire to become an entrepreneur, you mind gives you innumerable excuses as to why you can’t do it. Why is it so? It’s because of the fear of the unknown, fear of giving up stability, fear of change and most importantly fear of failure. So how is it that you can overcome that fear? It can be overcome by accepting your decision and change whole-heartedly and by becoming part of the flow rather than resisting it. You need to face the fear head-on and don’t let the fear over-power you. It’s aptly said “It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to, has power over you, if you allow it.”

Remember, “You’ve got to win your mind before you win in your life.”-John Addison

Define Success On Your Own Terms, Achieve It By Your Own Rules, And Build A Life You’re Proud To Live

Every individual is born on this earth with unique qualities and purpose. But as we grow older due to the society we are in we tend to start living our lives based on the rules set by others. In the process we lose our individualities and our own self.

In order to live life on your own terms you will have to get rid of social shackles and design rules for yourself which make you happy and most importantly lets you be ‘YOU’. Learn to respect yourself and set your priorities right instead of blindly following and trusting others. Question the rules and customs which don’t seem right and follow the ones you believe in. Don’t get bogged down by people’s opinions and take control over your life. As far as you don’t disrupt the harmony and well-being of others you are entitled to live life based on the rules designed by you. Do not let others dictate how you should lead your life as this life is yours. Make rules, stand by it and create your future.

Remember, “Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you’re proud to live”-Anne Sweeny

The Bad Habit Is Not Invincible And You Can Get Back To Your Good Normal Stuff

Habits are more powerful than we think. Bad habits deter us from reaching our goals. Some of the habits that we develop over time are quite difficult to change as most of the habits are involuntary. As it’s said “Bad habits die hard”. If some of the habits are bad then why do we develop them?

Generally, bad habits are the result of daily stress or boredom. Habits such as smoking, drinking, nail biting or net surfing are the ways to cope up with your daily stress or boredom. Since the bad habits help you to get rid of stress or boredom it seems advantageous to your mind and you tend to keep doing it persistently. Over the time, these bad habits become the part of your life-style. So, trying to stop that is futile. Instead you need to replace that habit with a positive one that provides the similar benefit as the bad habit. For e.g. If you feel the urge to eat junk food when you’re stressed, then replace that habit by listening to soothing music or eating something healthy that you like it. New positive habits can also be formed by joining hands with someone who practices doing it. This way they can act as a motivation for you to develop a positive habit. Finally, no bad habit can be replaced until you realise you have one and are aware about it. Therefore self-awareness is the first step towards your positive change.

All habits are learnable. The bad habit is not invincible and you can get back to your good normal stuff. All you need is self-awareness, will power, Self-discipline and perseverance; and in no time you can see your reformed self. All the Best for your new Life.

If You Want To Change Anyone Then Start With Yourself

You all love certain things about yourselves and detest some of them and expect people to accept you with all your strengths and flaws. Then why is it that you expect people to change and sacrifice their habits for you? Why do you secretly hope that people will give up some of their goals and change some of their habits for you?

Many times you tend to think that you know what’s best for others, but to be honest, by doing that you are trying to align their habits and goals to yours. You may gift wrap the word ‘change’ with the words such as motivate and inspire but the bottom line is that you are changing them and trying to fool yourself. It’s very important that you accept people for who they are and not what you want them to be because the process of changing others can be quite exhausting and frustrating. It would be like sailing your boat against the flow of the river and all your efforts would be futile. Each one of you know how you want to be treated by others but fail to understand that people too want to be treated in the same way. So it would be unfair to enforce change upon others. Moreover, rather than focussing your time and energy on changing others it’s better to introspect oneself and concentrate on bringing on the change in yourself. So, don’t try to change people. That is not your job. If you want to change anyone then start with yourself.

Remember, “When people are ready to, they change. They never do it before then, and sometimes they die before they get around to it. You can’t make them change if they don’t want to, just like when they do want to, you can’t stop them.”-Andy Warhol

Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity

‘Luck’ is a commonly used word by each one of you. The stories of more successful people or people in better position than you in life makes you say that ‘he or she was born with a silver spoon or he or she is very lucky’ .But do you think all great people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet or Michael Phelps were merely lucky or fortunate enough to achieve so much in life? No. All these legends had the inner drive; passion and readiness to do everything for their dream in them that made them achieve greater height in life.

What is this luck? “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”-Darrel Royal. I do agree that sometimes life brings you face to face to that dream opportunity that others don’t get and that’s the time you feel you’ve been lucky to receive that opportunity. But to what extent you can exploit that opportunity depends on your hard work, perseverance, preparedness and the decisions you take in life. Because luck can only open the window of opportunity, but cannot bring you that success if you are not disciplined and don’t put in your effort. So, when luck knocks the door in the form of opportunity it is very important that you are prepared to take on that opportunity and are ready to put in all your heart and soul into that one golden opportunity. That is the only way through which success can be achieved.

Here’s a quote from Carl Zuckmayer “One-half of life is luck. The other is discipline - and that’s the important half, for without discipline you wouldn’t know what to do with luck

What You Lack In Talent Can Be Made Up With Desire, Hustle And Giving Up 110 Percent All The Time

Strategies to achieve success as an entrepreneur, in reducing your weight or in any field are the same. You become what you are based on the decisions you take in life everyday which in other words is also known as your habits. It’s said, “We are what we repeatedly do .Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”-Aristotle

Life is always about choices. Even the smallest things in life provide you with choices and the choices you make each time develop into habits and ultimately your character. Talent can provide you the initial opportunity but your character that you develop through positive habits will stay with you in the long run. As it’s said, “What you lack in talent can be made up with desire, hustle and giving up 110 per cent all the time.”-Don Zimmer

But how would one develop success habits? To develop such habits you need to have a crystal clear goal in life. If you have immense passion about achieving your goal, the goal itself will act as a driving force. You need to bring in that required discipline, professionalism and consistency in life. Things won’t be the same every day. There might be days when you don’t feel like doing it. But the decision to choose your goal over your boredom will bring in that discipline you require to achieve that goal which eventually will become your habit. You need to make positive habits a part of your life by being consistent and persistent.

So “No matter how talented you are, your talent will fail you, if you’re not skilled. Skill is achieved through practice. Work hard and dedicate yourself to being better every single day”-Will Smith

If Life Gives You Hundred Reasons To Cry; Show Life That You Have Thousand Reasons To Smile

What is life? Life is a journey. Sometimes it might seem beautiful and sometimes treacherous. But whatever problems life may throw at us, choosing happiness above all is in our hands. Because “Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections

Sometimes in spite of all your efforts things won’t work the way you want them to and this difference in aspirations and reality leads to dejection. But in such situations what one needs to remember is that there is always a tomorrow as there was today and this is not just a wishful thinking mind-set. It’s a fact. So no matter how bad the things are going, tomorrow will always be there as today was here and that tomorrow would bring with it hundreds of other opportunities with it. Hard times and challenges make you stronger. You might be at the beginning of a dark tunnel but you mustn’t forget that there is always a ray at the end of the tunnel. So don’t exhaust your hopes and be happy.

So “If life gives you hundred reasons to cry; show life that you have thousand reasons to smile

In Any Situation The Best Thing You Can Do Is The Right Thing; The Next Best Thing You Can Do Is The Wrong Thing; The Worst Thing You Can Do Is Nothing

Are you dwelling in the world of procrastination or land of laziness? Then it’s high time that you take your life under your control. You may say “Things need to be perfect and the time needs to be right”. But you should remember that there never comes a perfect moment or a day to take that action. ”In any situation the best thing you can do is the right thing; the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing; the worst thing you can do is nothing”-Theodore Roosevelt

Life becomes much easier if you take an action on the decision you have made rather than pushing it further away and procrastinating or merely being lazy about taking the required action. What is that one thing that separates you from successful people is that they never wait for the things to be right. They just do it. They probably fail multiple times and make innumerable mistakes but they learn from those mistakes and come out stronger and wiser. While it is important that you need to set goals for the future and plan ahead, but overanalysing and planning brings with it fears and self-doubt. At the same time, it is futile to think about what you could have done yesterday. You need to focus on today and utilize your today to make a brighter tomorrow.

Many times we tend to be so busy in making the situations and things right that we fail to take that action in the process. But the fact is that perfect time or situation never comes. Yes there was a perfect time and that was yesterday and the next perfect time is today. So today is what you need to bank on and take that step because in no time today will also be gone. Remember “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If to want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy”-Dale Carnegie

The Best Sales People Are Those Who Know How To Build Excellent Relationships

In business everything works around the customer. The sole purpose of the business is to resolve the problems or provide solutions to its customers. As it’s said “A customer is the most important visitor on our premises; he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption to our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing a favour by giving us an opportunity to do so.”-Gandhi .Having said that the best sales people are those who know how to build excellent relationships.

The sales people are the true face of the business. They are the ones who actually interact with the customers and get to know their needs and requirements. Excellent sales people would be those who would not just focus on numbers but those who would consider customers as their priority, the ones who would be good listeners, who have belief in their product and know in and out about it, who are prepared to anticipate the questions of the customer and answer them effectively, and empathetic enough to understand the problems of their customers putting themselves in their shoes and providing solutions to them.

So, “Learn to sell. In business you’re always selling: to your prospects, investors and employees. To be the best salesperson put yourself in the shoes of the person to whom you’re selling. Don’t sell your product. Solve their problems.”-Mark Cuban

Failure Is Very Much A Part Of Success

Have you ever failed in life??If your answer is ‘no’ then unfortunately you have not tried enough because Failure is very much a part of Success. With every failed attempt you move a step away from your imperfection and move a step closer to wisdom and success.

Leaders always lead the way through example. Even greatest of leaders like Steve jobs had to face innumerable failed attempts .But what kept him moving was his unquenchable thirst for excellence and his tireless efforts. Look around you!!Even tiniest of creatures like spiders will encourage you to keep trying and not giving up which also inspired great King Bruce to fight back and not give up. If you want to succeed you should be willing to fail and learn from your mistakes.

Remember: Never fear to fail… The day of your failure will not be the day to grieve but the day to rejoice that you have crossed one more bridge and are moving closer to your goal to success and the day to get ready for the next upcoming Challenge. So keep moving forward. You never know when success comes knocking at your door….Knock Knock!!!

No Dream Is Too Big And No Dreamer Too Small

What are dreams? If you go by the dictionary meaning the answer is that a dream is a cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal. You will not find a single person in this world who doesn’t dream big. But not everybody’s dream comes to reality. The reason is some dream big and does every possible thing to achieve it while others just forget it…The former set of people are the ones who dare to dream big, achieve bigger and inspire others.

A boy next door called Sachin Tendulkar was a lad from a middle class family just like you and me. But his dreams were of the moon and stars which seemed almost impossible to achieve….but he went on to make history….The only thing that kept him going was his big dream, his attitude, perseverance and the fire in him that not only elevated him to great heights but illuminated and inspired the lives of so many others who didn’t dare to even see such dreams. Sir Roger Bannister was the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. Up until he did it in 1954, most people thought the four-minute mark was impossible to break. They thought the human body couldn’t physically go that fast .No-one could run a mile in less than four minutes. It was an impossible feat. That was, until Bannister proved everyone wrong, training in his own way, and believing that he could do it. That’s the quality of great dreamers. They are like the candle that burns itself and brightens up the life of others with new hope and inspiration. But if they can do it you can do it too. If you imbibe the qualities of self-discipline and perseverance, take up new challenges in life, do the things that you were procrastinating nobody can stop you from achieving your dreams and in the process you can become the guiding light that inspires many others in their path to success.

Here, I remember a beautiful quote from the movie Turbo “No dream is too big and no dreamer too small”. Big dreams not only bring hope to your life but hope and inspiration in the lives of many others. So go on to dream big, work towards it and inspire others. Because nothing is impossible!!!

He Who Has Health Has Hope; And He Who Has Hope Has Everything

A gift of good health has always been and will always be the greatest boon of all times. . Our body and mind is the most amazing creation and the fact that we are able to do so many amazing things daily is the greatest mystery of all times. But people don’t seem to know what they’ve got ‘til it’s gone. With rare exception, most of us tend to take the most precious gift of good heath for granted.

Modernisation might have made our lives easy and fast. But it has brought with it the curse of adverse health effects. We want everything fast…transportation, communication and even the food that we eat is fast. With modernisation we have invited two new guests in our lives i.e. Addiction and Stress. Addiction may not be only to tobacco and alcohol but also to modern gadgets like mobile, tablet and to work. We have become slaves to the latest gadgets. We are in a race to achieve so much in life so early that we are taxing our body to the maximum extent. All of this is running like a slow poison into our minds and bodies and killing us every day. But what’s the use of best gadgets and technology if we don’t have a healthy mind and body. Remember that life will be meaningless without a healthy mind and soul. But “No matter how far you’ve gone on the wrong road you can still turn around”. The time is now. The time has come to take our lives in our control ….and cherish our health and take best care of our minds and body. This can be done by bringing in discipline in our lives, by getting rid of addictions, developing healthy eating habits, taking proper daily exercise ,inculcating the habit of meditation, forming good relationships with others, and expressing, managing and feeling an array of positive emotions. The positive change cannot be brought in a single day as it’s said “Rome was not built in a day”. It has to be done over a period of time. But the choice to lead a healthy life is in our hands.

So, love yourself, love your body. Here I remember an Arabian proverb “He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything”. Take Care before it’s too Late!!!!

Winners Never Quit And Quitters Never Win

The only thing that is constant is Change. Life keeps on changing and with it brings new challenges every day. But the only thing that’s in our hands is to embrace the change, accept the challenge and face every situation that life throws at us like a brave heart. The gist of life is quoted in these few verses “You have the right to work but never to the fruit of work. You should never engage in action for the sake of the reward, nor should you long for inaction” .This is absolute truth.

Walt Disney was the man who gave us Disney World and Mickey Mouse .His first Animation Company went bankrupt. He was fired by a news editor because he lacked imagination. He was turned down 302 times before he got financing for creating Disney World. Vincent Van Gogh only sold one painting in his lifetime!  Just one to a friend... Despite that he kept painting and finished over 800 pieces. Now everyone wants to buy them and his most expensive painting is valued at $142.7 million. Hellen Keller was an American author, political activist and lecturer with major disabilities. She was the first deaf blind person to get Bachelor of Arts degree. She also campaigned for women’s suffrage, worker’s right and socialism. She also helped to found American Civil Liberties Union. She travelled to more than 35 countries. But what kept them going forward was their love for the work they do, belief in their dreams and their perseverance. Life was hard for them and they faced adverse situations but they focussed on the immense power inside them to do something better for themselves and the society at large.

So however the life may challenge you and whatever the situation may be never quit in your life and keep doing your best because “Winners never quit and Quitters never win
