Humans are social animals. We cannot imagine our life
without our near and dear ones. Everyone needs someone to share their sorrows,
happiness, fears and feelings. Friends hold a very important and special place
in our lives. All other relations are bestowed upon us but friends are the one
we choose and that’s what it makes it so special. In fact friends influence our
lives the most. And it’s very true that the company you keep says a lot about
you.
Friends can influence you positively or negatively in many
walks of life. Positive friends will support you in the hour of need. You don’t
have to go all about asking for help because the chances are that they may be
there for you even without you asking them for help. On the other hand negative
friends enjoy the failure of others which in turn makes you feel more miserable
about yourself and your situation. Positive friends help you to rebound from
the negative phase of your life and bring out the best in you. Many times
people have goals which they are scared or ashamed of sharing with others. In
such situations people find it more comfortable sharing their secret goal with
positive friends. For example, somewhere in the corner of your heart you wanted
to learn dance or pursue any other hobby but due to other responsibilities you
could not. In such situations negative friends would give you reasons why it
won’t you be successful or how it won’t be feasible. On the contrary positive
friends would be appreciative of your goals and would encourage you to chase
your unfulfilled dreams without being judgemental. Positive friends who are
physically active will irritate you, bug you, and tease you to follow your
exercise regimen. Exercise becomes more fun with a good friend by your side. Positive
friends help you feel good about yourself and enhance your self-esteem and
negative friends add on to your stress levels. If we have friends who stand by
us through thick and thin, who encourage us and have belief in our dreams we
can achieve the impossible and pessimistic friends will demotivate us and
demoralize our spirits. So it’s very important to choose your friends wisely.
Here I would like to add a quote by Dr.Steve Maraboli”If
you hang out with chickens you’re going to cluck and if you hang out with eagles,
you’re going to fly”.
Keep in touch.
