Benefits of "NO"

Total Read Time : Less than 2 Minutes

I know that saying "No" is the Toughest aspect of managing time.

But if you don't develop this,
Most of the Time Management strategies will not work and you will lose control over your time and your life.

Instead of feeling guilty,
Be happy that you are not over committed.

This does not mean that you should be rude to those around you.
Learn how to politely refuse or direct them to someone else who can help or suggest a later time.

Here are some thoughts which will help you.
-------------------------
# Don’t feel guilty:
-------------------------
Never feel guilty that you are being selfish when you say "NO" to people.

You are just making some more time for yourself. Saying ‘NO’ to some things means saying ‘YES’ to many other things you can do in that time.
-------------------------
# Don’t let others control you:
-------------------------
People may bully, complain or even compliment you to get you to say ‘yes’.
Recognize this and be in charge of yourself.
-------------------------
# Stay calm:
-------------------------
Instead of showing your weakness by sounding confused or upset, talk in a clear and calm manner.
-------------------------
# Provide them with an alternative:
-------------------------
You can give them an alternate option to soften the effect.
If somebody asks you to do something for them and you can’t, then try suggesting another person who may be able to do it for them.
-------------------------
# Prioritise:
-------------------------
Focus on what matters most before making new commitments. If this commitment is not that important to you, then say ‘no’.
-------------------------
# Give explanation if required:
-------------------------
This can make the other person understand the reason you have to say ‘no’ to their request. But there is no need to over-explain.
=======================
My clients and I have experienced that saying ‘NO’ plays an important role in managing your stress.

There is a very famous quote by a 19th century American humorist, Josh Billings
"Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to: Saying YES too quickly and Not saying NO soon enough."

So stay out of trouble and have a great day!

Keep in touch.
Be Unstoppable 👍🏻
